Brent grew up in Kennesaw, just north of Marietta, the youngest of three boys raised by a single mom who worked the front desk at a Holiday Inn off I-75. He played baseball through high school — decent enough for a partial scholarship to Kennesaw State, where he studied communications and spent way too many late nights playing poker in the dorms.

After graduating, he bounced between a couple marketing gigs in Buckhead before landing a content writing role at a small digital agency in Midtown Atlanta.
